Karen is a graduate of Oklahoma City University with undergraduate and Masters degrees. The latter in Performing Arts in Vocal Performance – she performed as a professional opera vocalist for five years and then became a professor at Phillips University in Enid, OK. After seven years in Enid, she spent another three years as a professor at Colorado State University.
During this time God enhanced her passion to coordinate music with pastoral messages, reinforcing each to multiply their impact. Karen’s goal is to magnify each person’s “Heart Light,” that light in our eyes reflecting the intensity of the Holy Spirit within our soul. This passion, along with the desire to serve God with her musical talents, drew Karen to church ministries and away from Universities.
Karen’s church ministry brought her to DRCC in January of 2013. Working with both the choir and the bell choir, one of her goals, is that their ministry through music would increase their passion for all things of Christ. God is active in her life causing her to grow steadily in her faith through Bible study and interaction with other Christians.
